Evolution of the Javan Rhino
Where Did the Javan Rhino Come From?
These animals have constantly evolved throughout history, and they have evolved in many different ways leaving us with the animal we have now known as the Rhinoceros, or also known as the Rhino. It all started with the Tapiridae, who were really small animals with short legs and small bodies, but then eventually evolved into the Hyracodontidae, who had long legs and a bigger body, and described as horse-like because they were running land mammals. Then over the years evolved the Indricotheriinae, which are mammals with longer limbs and no horns , so they were even bigger than the Hyracodontidae since the Indricotheriinae evolved with longer limbs, so they were technically almost like the previous animal. Then came another big change when the Amynodontidae, which evolved the Infraorbital fossa, which is an opening of the maxillary bone of the skull located under the passage of the infraorbital margin of the eye socket, it allows for the passage of the infraorbital artery, veins, and nerves. Then lastly came the Rhinocentidae, or Rhinoceros which developed odd-toes ungulates to help it move around more efficiently. This is the evolution of the Rhinoceros.
How Similar is the Rhino to Us?
Most of the anatomy of the Javan Rhinoceros is much like the anatomy of the human being. The nervous, circulatory, respiratory, skeletal, digestive, and muscular system are all the same. The nervous system is just like the humans nervous system because they also have nerves that are connected all around the body that connects back to the brain which sends messages to the rest of the body. Next, the circulatory system along with the respiratory system are very much alike to the humans because the blood is used to transport nutrients throughout the body and the repository and the circulatory work together to intake the oxygen to the lungs and then turn it into CO2 and release it just like humans do. The excretory system also works the same because when the Javan Rhino intakes fluids it has a kidney, urea, and bladder that helps it take out all the waste . The locomotion, also known as the muscular and skeletal system is also the same even though the structure of the Rhino is different the function of the skeletal system is the same which helps it maintain its structure, the muscular system also works the same because it helps the Rhino move in certain directions. Just like humans there are bones in the Rhino and there are muscles to cover them to protect them. Lastly, the digestive system is the same as humans too because it is composed of the small/large intestines, stomach, and cecum, and the system takes the food taken in by the Rhinoceros and help keep the nutrients that are good and pass along the waste to the excretory system. Mainly most of the important systems in the human are the same in the Rhinoceros.
